Tell me where to/how to/what to use to get a decent one.
I want start menu/bar to look good, desktop (and icons), Windows(my comp/firefox etc) and so on and so forth. If someone tells me to go into the control panel i will throw something at them.
Ive tried desktop x but it only changed the start bar and wallpaper stuff, not the start menu or firefox or anything like that.
Ive tried windows blinds but i can't remember, i uninstalled it quickly for desktop x.
So tell me what i am doing wrong with the two programs above ^^ and link me to a DECENT theme, or just do the latter and send me to a decent theme that can be installed through right clicking and stuff.

I use Styler which works well with most themes I find.

This method will work without needing to install any program like Windows Blinds so your PC will still work fast.
1. Goto Neowin and run the MultiPatcher (http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=140707) to fix uxtheme.dll to allow you to install/use unsigned Windows Themes (so you arn't limited to the default Windows Themes).
2. You can find loads of themes on Google (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=windows+xp+themes&btnG=Google+Search&meta=). Just search around for one you like. As you have already fixed uxtheme.dll you can install any theme now.
3. If you cannot find any themes I will send you a ZIP file of all the themes I have, see if there is one you like there.
You may want to install the Vista Transformation Pack (http://www.windowsxlive.net/?page_id=15) that Jamie found. This will turn EVERYTHING (sounds aswell as themes) into what Vista will be like.

1 - Downloaded will install in a mo.
2 - I will search for themes later but 3) you can send me the pack anyway if you would. I want something different but not stupid if you know what i mean.
Vista doesn't impress me that much really so no i don't really want it.

I use StyleXP, I think it's alot like styler, uses no ram, because all it does is unlock something that microsoft locked. It comes with a couple Mac OSx skins and a strange one or two. And there are many more skins on Teh Internetz!

Chris.

That StylerXP will probably "unlock" the uxtheme.dll thing. What I like about the multipatcher is that it doesn't install anything, it just replaces a file.
The ZIP with all my Themes in is 16mb (http://www.hostfiles.org/download.php?id=35BEA54D) and must be extracted to this directory: C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes
When you have done that, if it has worked out ok the new themes will be in the Display Properties. I doubt my themes are as good as what you have got at the moment though but worth a try.

I don't use it all any more. I only use bits of it as I don't like everything it does to my PC, plus it slowed it down.
